KEYSTONE SPECIES...in more depth

Image
Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog! Today, the post is definitely more factual and...ummm...might be boring for some of you but I hope you still enjoy! SOOOOO! Today I'm going to be expanding on a fact that I posted about Sea Otter in the 'Top 5 FUN facts about SEA OTTERS' post... ENOUGH CHAT! The fact was that Sea Otters are a keystone species. Like I said in that post (Top 5 FUN facts about SEA OTTERS) this is a really hard concept to understand and is even harder to explain. SO I'm going to try my best to explain this to you in this post!   Ummmmmm...ok? Firstly, the basic concept of a KEYSTONE species is: A Species of animal that it's ecosystem depends on to survive. This means that without that certain species, that ecosystem will collapse. Hence why they are so important! This boring  diagram shows this concept in more depth. As shown in the picture, without that keystone in the middle, the whole arch would fall apart! This explains why a keystone spec...

#2 Sea Otters vs River Otter

Image
Hi and welcome back to my blog! Today is episode 2 of Sea Otters vs River Otters! I hope y'all enjoy!!!  Sooooooo... I've done this before but I don't think it was very fair that I was judging (actually I think it was completely fair but my friends said that it wasn't so 'oh well' I guess) To fix this I'm going to get one of my friends to judge it for me!  FUN FACT! She also has a blog which is really cool! You should check it out! 😉 http://withmayathome.blogspot.com ANYWAYS! For todays round of judging, I will be asking the internet/google what are the cutest facts about each otter and my friend will be judging based on that! I will get 3 facts for each and then she will choose the ✨ CUTEST FACT ✨.  Enjoy! (be warned, she has mentioned to me several  times that she likes River Otters better...) (For her) I'll do River Otters first! Lets go! 1. River Otters actually build dens! Much like Beavers,  This is a Beaver by the way River Otter build dens st...

Top 5 FUN facts about SEA OTTERS

Image
Hi and welcome back to my blog! (This is to make up for missing yesterday.) I've noticed that my blogs have been more...creative! But today I wanted to make it more based on factual thongs about Sea Otters if you know what I mean? ANYWAYS! Here I've found, in my opinion, the top five most fun facts about Sea Otters to show you! How I've ordered this is '5' is probably like the least fun fact and '1' is like the, "OMG! That's the most fun and cute fact I've heard!" fact. So lets get right into it! 5.  Sea Otters can hold their breath underwater for up to 5 minutes at a time! This helps them forage for food underwater. 4. Sea Otters have the thickest fur of any animal! This helps them keep warm in cold waters. Kind of like a fur coat for winter time! Since their fur is so thick, they have to groom it very often, which is why Sea Otters are usually seen rubbing the bodies.  Like this! 3.  Did you know that Sea Otters are a keystone species?...
